Isaac Babalola Thomas (1888-1963) was a newspaper editor, journalist, and writer who, in 1928, founded the popular bilingual weekly newspaper – Akede Eko in Lagos.

 Isaac Babalola Thomas (1888-1963) was a newspaper editor, journalist, and writer who, in 1928, founded the popular bilingual weekly newspaper – Akede Eko in Lagos.

In 1924, he wrote the biography of the man on the defunct one naira note titled, "Life History of Herbert Macaulay" and was sole executor of Macaulay's will.

In 1929, Thomas then wrote the first Nigerian novel in any language, Itan Igbesi-Aiye Emi Segilola (The Life History of Me), which was about the life of a prostitute.

In the same year, I.B Thomas published West Africa's first evening newspaper – The Nigerian Evening News.
